
SANDRA FENICHEL ASHER’s plays have been produced nationally and abroad; over two dozen have been published. Among her many honors are the American Alliance for Theatre and Education’s Distinguished Play Award, selection for the Kennedy Center’s New Visions/New Voices Symposium, the IRT/Bonderman National Playwriting Award, an ASSITEJ Outstanding Play for Young Audiences citation, a National Endowment for the Arts grant in playwriting, the Charlotte Chorpenning Award for a distinguished body of work in children’s theatre, the Joseph Campbell Memorial Award presented by the Open Eye Theater, and an Aurand Harris Fellowship grant from the Children’s Foundation of America. Sandy began her long association with Judy Matetzschk-Campbell with a rehearsed reading of her adaptation of Jane
Austen’s EMMA and an early production of In The Garden Of The Selfish Giant. Recent Pollyanna productions include the world premiere of TOO MANY
FROGS!, adapted from Sandy’s award-winning book, and a new play commission and world premiere of Jesse and Grace: A Best Friends Story. Sandy lives in Lancaster, PA.
